M. Wayne Williams
Management
Appointee. Appointed to the Civil Service Board in May 2001, Wayne has an extensive
background in business and marketing in private industry and owned his own
business. He is currently Director, Business & Operational Support for the
Metro Parks District. Prior to this he worked for Tacoma Community College
(TCC) from 1991-2007 holding numerous positions including Associate VP,
Enterprise & Workforce, Development, Dean, Associate Dean, and Director. Wayne has a passion for serving the citizens of Tacoma by ensuring
quality programs are available and accessible as evidenced by his instrumental
involvement with college innovations and outreach, and the establishment of
off-site centers and programs. He was one of the founding board members for the
Tacoma Empowerment Consortium (TEC).
As
the Management Appointee, Wayne
is serving his second four-year term on the Board. He brings extensive
expertise, understanding and fresh perspective on the relationship between
management, employees and the citizens of Tacoma.
He has an understanding of the diversity of the citizens of Tacoma
as evidenced by his involvement with many community groups such as the Junior
Achievement program, Youth Building Tacoma, United Way, HOPE VI, Salishan (East-side)
Learning Center,
the Puyallup Indian Tribe's Business Start-up Program and the City of Tacoma Local Employment
and Apprenticeship Program (LEAP).
